Outlook 2016 Tips and Tricks

In the next couple of months, WFBH ITS will begin to move staff email from Microsoft Exchange 2010 to Microsoft Exchange Online. 

Changes included are that Microsoft does not support the “public folders” feature in Exchange Online. 

What is Outlook?

Microsoft Outlook is the application that allows you to keep up with email, schedule time using the calendar, keep track of your contacts, manage your to do lists/ tasks, and make notes. 

Be sure to sign up for a class.  Register online at:http://libcal.wakehealth.edu/.  Classes are taught once every 4-6 weeks. 
In this 2 hour class, we will learn how to:

  • Set up an effective email folder structure
  • Compose and format our emails
  • Use our time wisely using the Calendar via appointments & meetings
  • Keep track of our projects and lists using Tasks
  • And keep notes of important information

We will also explore new features added since version '07;  Rules, Quick Steps, Conversation mode and Clean up.

What version of Outlook Do I Have?

 At this time, some departments are still using version 2010, others have been upgraded to version 2016.  While it is the same program, a few more functions have been added with each upgrade.

Visit the Email tab---- to discover how to tell which version you are using.
