Purchase recommendations

To help users conduct better research and write papers, the Library welcomes requests for recommendations to purchase materials.

Research

Librarians are available to help users conduct literature searches for papers, projects and research:
1. Medical Literature Search
2. Systematic Review Request - see also the research guide about this topic.
3. Covidence for Systematic Reviews- a fee-based product. This online tool allows for screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment.           Click here for additional information or request an invitation to join Wake Forest University School of Medicine's Covidence account (free).

Remote Access

Remote Access allows off-campus users to access the Library's subscription-based electronic resources as if they were on the Medical Center network. Users must be affiliated with the institution and complete this form to begin the verification and approval process.

Affiliated users must log in using the Affiliate EZProxy link and username assigned to them by Carpenter Library.

Affiliated users include:

  • Preceptors
  • Virginia Tech Biomedical Engineering Graduate Students and Faculty
  • WSSU Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nursing faculty
  • FTCC  Nursing and Respiratory Therapy faculty

Many of our electronic resources are expensive subscription based services that are restricted to authorized users only. EZproxy and VPN are two ways to assure our publishers that you are a legitimate user when you are off campus. ALL subscription resources on the Library's website will prompt for the medctr username and password.
