Library Policies

Remote Access to Library Online Resources

Remote Access allows off-campus users to access the Library's subscription-based electronic resources as if they were on the Medical Center network. Many of our electronic resources are expensive subscription based services that are restricted to authorized users only. EZproxy and VPN are two ways to assure our publishers that you are a legitimate user when you are off campus.

ALL subscription resources on the Library's website will prompt for the medctr username and password.

Medical Center personnel can proceed directly to a resource where they will be prompted for their medctr username and password.

Medical Center personnel are:

  • WFSM Medical, Physician Assistant, Nurse Anesthesia, and Graduate Students
  • WFSM Faculty and Staff
  • WFBH Hospital Staff

Affiliated users must be approved by IT and the Library Director.

Affiliated users are:

  • Preceptors
  • Virginia Tech Biomedical Engineering Graduate Students and Faculty
  • WSSU Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Nursing faculty
  • FTCC  Nursing and Respiratory Therapy faculty

Once approval is complete, log in from the EZproxy login page and use the assigned username and password. If you have questions or  experience problems, contact Brandy Hardy

Alumni are not permitted to access electronic resources off campus. This is a condition set by our vendors in license agreements when we buy databases and journals from them. Alumni and the public are welcome to use these resources when they are in the physical library facility.

Individuals without a Wake Health Medical Center account should complete this form to begin the verification and approval process
