Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine: AI Research Tools

AI IN Research?!

AI is also used in the research process itself, from the beginnings of synthesizing information from the literature, to the writing of final publications.

Librarian Favorites

scite.ai is a tool that helps students and researchers discover and understand research findings more efficiently through Smart Citations. In addition, individuals are able to visualize and share metrics on their own publications.

Wake Forest University subscribes to an organization-wide license of scite. Access to scite.ai works on campus or on VPN only. For VPN access to work you must use an internet browser from Citrix Workplace

Carpenter Library librarians especially like scite for its browser extension, which allows users to see scite metrics directly on articles as they browse across the internet. scite metrics show things like how many times an article has been cited, how many of those citations are in agreement/disagreement, etc.

Consensus is an AI search engine for research that synthesizes results from a database of more than 200 million research publications. Consensus takes conversational questions like "Does creatine help build muscle?" and gives answers in an easy-to-read format, much like ChatGPT and other chatbots. The difference is Consensus pulls answers only from its database of research publications.

While not free, Consensus does offer a free tier account, which gives users 20 "credits" a month to use on Consensus' advanced features.

Research Rabbit is a literature mapping powerhouse. Visualize connections between papers, authors, subjects, and so much more with this tool that helps you discover related research.

Research Rabbit is FREE for all researchers!

We especially like RR for its personalization options. RR learns your interests much like Spotify does and allows for the creation of personalized collections, alerts, etc.
